Diyat amount fixed at Rs 98,28,670, notification issued

Islamabad ( August 19, 2025) The federal government has officially announced the amount of diyat, for which an official notification has been issued by the Ministry of Finance. According to the notification issued by the Federal Ministry of Finance, the amount of diyat has been fixed at Rs 98,28,670, which is equal to 30,630 grams of silver.

It should be noted that under Islamic Sharia law in Pakistan, if a person is guilty of murder or bodily harm and the plaintiff does not want to take qisas (punishment in retaliation) against him, he can receive compensation under diyat. The amount of diyat is determined every year according to the rate of silver. This amount is given as a fine or financial compensation in case of unintentional murder or harm under Sharia law. The amount of diyat is determined according to the current value of 30,630 grams of silver, which is updated every year based on inflation and market rates. This amount will be applied in cases pending in the courts where the parties agree to diyat.
